Trapezoidal nuts & screws

Trapezoidal nuts & screws

Precision rolled trapezoidal screws are manufactured according to ISO 2901/2903 and DIN 103 7e standards. The lead accuracy of the screws is 0.05/300 mm. The material for the RPTS type is C35 or C45, and the stainless steel RATS type is also available in the standard program with AISI 316L.

The nuts are machined from steel, bronze, and PA6.6 synthetic material. We supply ready-made screws according to customer drawings with short lead times. The screws are machined at our workshop in Vantaa.

Features:

  • Manufacturing lengths: Diameters from 28 mm – 3,000 mm, larger sizes from over 30 mm – 6,000 mm
  • Stock diameters: 8–50 mm, full program from 8–120 mm
  • Standard nut models: Cylindrical and hexagonal in steel, flanged and cylindrical in bronze, cylindrical in PA 6.6
  • Custom models available upon request
  • Trapezoidal screws and nuts also available in left-handed versions from stock

Trapezoidal screws are used to convert rotational motion into linear motion. Trapezoidal threads are typically used in adjustment and lifting applications where good static properties are required. Since the trapezoidal thread is self-locking, it may not require separate brake components. The trapezoidal thread is highly standardized, which also makes spare parts more readily available. It is also well-suited for challenging conditions.

Trapezoidal lead screws and corresponding nuts are generally made from materials that provide adequate strength or corrosion resistance for various applications:

  • Steel: Standard steel materials include C45 (1.0503). Carbon steel is a common choice in many applications, as it offers better strength and wear resistance for heavier-duty uses.
  • Stainless Steel: Stainless steel is a popular choice for applications that require corrosion resistance, such as in the food industry, pharmaceuticals, and outdoor environments. Trapezoidal lead screws and nuts made from 316L (1.4404) stainless steel are durable and long-lasting.
  • Bronze: Bronze, specifically CuSn7ZnPb (tin bronze), is used in nuts for applications that require good corrosion resistance and lower friction.
  • Plastics: In some applications where mechanical requirements are not particularly high, plastic nuts made from PA6.6 can be used. Plastic threads are lightweight, non-corrosive, and perform well in contact with chemicals. Plastic materials are also quieter in operation.

The trapezoidal screw is designed to withstand large axial loads, making it ideal for applications requiring high power transmission, such as in lever systems, presses, and lifting equipment.

Trapezoidal screws are widely used in mechanical systems where high load capacity, self-locking, or challenging conditions are required. Applications include lifting equipment, jigs and fixtures, and environments that require good resistance to moisture or chemicals.
