Shaft couplings are used to connect motors and drive shafts, as well as to link various machine components to shafts. They are available in both flexible and rigid versions. Flexible couplings allow compensation for alignment errors between the motor and the drive shaft, while rigid couplings, as the name suggests, are stiff and do not accommodate angular or concentric deviations between shafts.
Torque limiters are safety devices used, for example, between a motor and a shaft to prevent equipment damage in fault conditions. They are adjusted to disengage at a specified torque level, ensuring the coupling opens when the torque exceeds the set threshold.
