Sensing edges are protective devices designed to safeguard operators and equipment in applications with moving parts or hazardous areas. Commonly used on doors, gates, machine guards, and other automated systems, these edges detect pressure along their length. In an emergency, when pressure is applied to the edge, the sensing edge sends a signal to stop or reverse motion, helping to prevent injuries or damage.
Sensing edges are available in various profiles and sensitivity levels to suit a range of industrial applications. Constructed with durable materials, they are built to withstand harsh environments and frequent use, providing reliable protection over a long operational lifespan.
A sensing edge issues a stop command when the force applied to the edge exceeds the activation force. After activation, sensing edges have a compression measure that defines the movement distance after activation. The compression measure of the safety edge must be greater than the stopping distance of the device.
Tapeswitch’s sensing edges can be customized according to customer requirements from a broad selection of edge options, available either factory-assembled or as individual components.
