Edge detection and position sensors
Edge positioning sensors are used in applications where it’s necessary to center or determine the position of an object relative to the edge. They can also be used to determine the number or position of partially overlapping objects flowing by, based on the edge. The operating principle may involve detecting the object directly, using a mirror, or with a transmitter-receiver pair. The material can be almost anything, from solid glass to black rubber or paper products.
